Вечеринка: Up Close and Personal with Jesse Scaccia

The Pushers are proud to announce the debut of a brand new show... Up Close and Personal.

Each month one of Hampton Roads' remarkable and renowned residents will take the Push Theater stage to tell a true and personal story.

The improvisers of the Push will then use that story to inspire and evening's worth of comedy.

This month we get Up Close and Personal with Jesse Scaccia!
Jesse is the editor in chief of AltDaily. He has many biases and local involvements. They include being the chair of the public art committee and board member for the Norfolk Arts District; being a Public Art Commissioner for the City of Norfolk; former employee of TFC Recycling; graduate of ODU, where he taught writing; advocate for gay rights, animals rights, women's rights; member of Re:Vision Norfolk and Bike Norfolk; he believes that the mall is a sin and that without locally-owned businesses a city isn't worth a damn. He ran for City Council, lost, and then was nominated for School Board but that didn't happen either due, in part, to an absurd poem scandal (really!). He is a vegetarian and a yogi. He believes that marijuana should be legalized and would prefer that all hand guns be replaced with squirt guns but tyranny is also the worst, so he's not picking that battle. He's a former public school teacher in NYC and TV producer for BET.

The Pushers are Virginia's premiere sketch and improv comedy group. For nearly ten years they have thrilled (and shocked) audiences with their wild antics both on and off stage. The group puts on a racy, high-octane, energetic show that is guaranteed to have audiences howling with laughter. This fall they opened their own theater, The Push Comedy Theater, located in the new Norfolk Arts District.

In 2013 The Pushers' Off-Broadway musical Cuff Me: The Unauthorized Fifty Shades of Grey Musical Parody debuted in New York City. It ran for over a year in both New York and Chicago. A third production is currently touring the country.

The Pushers have appeared at both The Charleston Comedy Festival and The North Carolina Comedy Arts Festival. In New York, they have performed at The People's Improv Theater, The Upright Citizen's Brigade and at The Kraine Theater in New York's East Village.

Here in Hampton Roads the group have performed most notably at The Jewish Mother, The NorVa and The Virginia Beach Funnybone.
