Long Eaton Operatic Society is delighted to announce our next production West Side Story which runs at Trent College from 28th October - 1st November 2014:

West Side Story, famously inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, is set in the Upper West Side neighbourhood in New York City in the mid-1950s. The musical explores the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs of different ethnic backgrounds. The young protagonist, Tony, one of the Jets, falls in love with Maria, the sister of Bernardo, the leader of the Sharks. The dark themes, sophisticated music, extended dance scenes, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theatre and makes for exciting and entertaining viewing. Bernstein's fantastic score for the musical includes memorable songs such as Something's Coming, Maria, America, Somewhere, Tonight and I Feel Pretty.

Rehearsals are well under way with all our cast in place and rehearsing hard – we’d love to see you there!

The show is on at 7.30pm every night with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm. Tickets are £10 stalls and £12 balcony, with concession tickets for under 16s and OAPs at £8 on the Saturday matinee. We also have a special offer on Tuesday night tickets, so you will be able to come and see the show on Tuesday 28th October for only £8 in the stalls or £10 in the balcony.
