Using reflections in photography can lead to some amazing effects and beautiful images. Using water, windows, mirrors or any sort of reflective surface can change an image into a work of art. The wonderful thing about using reflections when taking photos is that they can completely alter the image from something fairly straightforward to something richer or abstract or otherwise more artistic.

The exercise would help to learn how different perspectives can change the portrait effects so dramatically. You are expected to do some homework on the theme. I have included some examples of reflective portrait photography to get you started. Develop some concepts for the photos you want to make, bring something with you which can be shared with your team members. Expect each one of you to bring a small broken mirror in different shapes or mirror frames, glass bottles or anything which can enhance creative portrait photography. Please mention on the comments what each one of you will be bringing, after you have RSVP'd. Those who fail to do so, well will have to volunteer to have water dripped all over your face for portraits near Statue Square fountain :p

Creativity and good-quality photos depend on the photographer being able to see things differently, rather than seeing only one part of a larger whole.

We will again be teaming up in small groups of 3-4 people who go off and take photos of each other, so we are not restricted by a shortage of models. So be prepared to model as well as take photos.

Outing starts at 4:30pm

We will meet at the ground floor entrance of City Hall Public Library in Central, move in a group of three members around the Central area near Statue Square area taking water reflection portrait pictures, and then re-group at Home - Eat To Live (Shop G01-101, Nexus Building, 77 Des Voeux Road Central,, Central, Hong Kong) around 6.30pm for photo sharing and socializing over a drink.

IMPORTANT: Whatever the weather we would meet. The weather is predicted to be “Sunny periods and a few rain patches”. There are a plenty of covered places to shoot for the theme if the heavens open. Please RSVP “Yes” only after careful consideration
