One part St Patrick’s Day, two parts Kentucky Derby – as far as country Vic’s racing calendar goes, this is the big one.
The leaves might be turning (and doonas are back on the bed) but the racing calendar is still running hot. The Yarra Valley Cup attracts some of the State’s top jockeys and trainers: there’s the $100,000 Jack Hirsch Memorial Cup, local food and wine galore, and a full Irish bar that’ll keep the Guinness and leprechaun jokes flowing all day long.
It’s also a chance for punters to bring their fashion A-Game. (Lads, if you’ve been umm-ing and ahh-ing over that paisley tie, now’s the time.) We’ve got Fashions on the Field lighting up the track, music pumping from 11am, FREE entertainment for the kids, and all the local action streamed live on the big screen.
