Going to VaasaBoulder Fest is part of delivering on Ronimisministeerium's "More climbing outside" New Year's promise. The BoulderFest area has over 400 routes and it is no wonder that Vaasanians say that Vaasa could be as famous as Fountainbleau among climbers if it just were much, much more famous...
Anyway, last year about 10 Ronimisministeeriumians visited this (badly) hidden jem and the reason we are going back this year as well is bouldering, good vibes and no mosquitoes.
As there are no camping or participation fees, a full vehicle of climbers sharing the ferry and fuel expenses leads to a wallet easy trip. On the way it is also a possible to stop e.g. for half a day of trekking at Helvetinjärvi national park, which has some funky cliff formations https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x__Zu-SHVTU or at ABC fuel station for a pricey coffee and donut. Now that could be called living, couldn't it?
