Kaya Street

Kaya is a word found from languages and cultures across the world. It means: "resting place, nature, the healer, the human body, home, purity and wise child".
Kaya Street are a original band from Bristol. The group formed as a result of inspirational jam nights throughout the city's underground music scene.Their music is a melting pot of world sounds with influences taken from reggae, dub, ska, soul, funk, desert blues, soukous, afro-beat, highlife, trip-hop, trance and psychedelia to create a uniquely original, hellishly groovy and independent sound. The songs deal passionately with political and social subjects - using music as a weapon against fascism, xenophobia, intolerance and injustice to create a rebelliously uplifting sound of the street.
